FITS MODELS: ALL 5" CHIPPER/
SHREDDERS
Before inspecting or servicing any part of this machine,
shut off power source, remove key, disconnect the
battery cables and make sure all moving parts have
come to a complete stop.
WARNING
The Rectangular Shredder Knife Kit is a replacement kit
to replace existing dull or damaged knives. The serrated
shredder knives are designed to offer long life and can be
reversed if they become dull. Note the instructions differ
for chipper/shredders and chipper/shredder/blowers.
NOTE
Care must be taken to insure the knives and spacers
are installed properly to maintain rotor balance.
INSTALLATION STEPS FOR 5" CHIPPER/
SHREDDER
REFER TO THE FIGURES ON THE BACK OF THIS
PAGE DURING INSTALLATION.
Remove discharge cover and discharge screen.

Remove rear side access cover.
2.
Work with one knife shaft at a time. Remove #10-24
3.
bolt and nut from knife shaft and discard, do not
reuse.
Using a hammer and punch, drive the knife shaft
4.
through the access hole on the rear of the machine.
Remove spacers and shredder knives. Be careful to
5.
keep track of the order the spacers were installed
on the shafts so they can be returned to the original
locations. If the spacers and knives are not installed
correctly, the rotor will be out of balance and will not
have proper shredding action.
Replace knives and reassemble back into the rotor.

Install new #10-24 bolt and nut though the spacer and
shaft and retorque to 36 in lbs.
The serrated edge of the shredder knifes should face
the same direction as the cutting edge of the chipper
blades. Never reuse the #10-24 nut and bolt, always
install new parts when repairing. Never reuse shafts
or spacers if they show signs of wear or abuse. Install
new ones.
IMPORTANT
Complete service of all six shafts in this same

Install access cover, discharge screen, and discharge

cover, torque all 3/8” bolts to 33 ft lbs. and test run
machine.
