Remove the screws
and lock ties used to
hold the door in place.

The door and backing plate
(Discovery only) hang on the
pegs built onto the face.
GOLD SURFACES:
After installation, remove any tape and clean gold surfaces with denatured
alcohol and a soft cloth. Fingerprints or other marks left on the gold may etch
into the gold once the fireplace reaches operating temperature.

5 Turn on gas to the heater. Leak test all gas joints prior to starting the appliance. Start the pilot. Start
the main burner. Leak test all gas joints again.
6 Check the pilot flame to make sure it looks like the illustration below. Adjust the pilot flame if
necessary.
The pilot flame should impinge the top 3/8Ó (10 mm)
of the thermopile. If it does not, you may need to
turn the pilot up.

To adjust the pilot flame, remove the cover screw (and
gasket) and turn the needle valve. Clockwise lowers
the flame while counter-clockwise raises it.
