OPERATION
5.1
Preparation of Sampling Media
Appropriate sterile agar media for the collection of the bacteria samples
should be prepared in accordance with standard microbiological techniques.
When preparing the media it is essential that the petri dishes are placed on a
level surface when pouring the agar, to ensure that the surface of the media
is flat when it has solidified. Failure to do so may effect the rotation of the
plates on the sampler turntable.
5.2
Location of the Sampler
To obtain the best results it is recommended that the sampler is placed
between 1 and 1.75 metres above the floor, and away from open windows
and doors. Consideration should be given to air movements in the area, to
ensure that the sample is collected from a position which is representative.
5.3
Preparation for Sampling
1.
Assemble the sampler as described in Chapter 4, ensuring that a
240 Volt (or 110 volt as applicable) electrical supply is available to
provide power to the unit.
