This User's Guide describes the steps required to install the DE100i-SWU2X removable
enclosure inside a computer peripheral bay or external expansion chassis. This guide
supplements documentation provided with the host computer system, operating system, and
the drive to be installed within the carrier.
General Description
The StorCase Technology Data Express
®
DE100i-SWU2X is composed of a receiving frame
which supports SCSI Ultra2 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) or Single-Ended interfaces and
fits within a 5.25" half-height peripheral slot (Figure 2). This 16-bit I/O can support up to 80MB/
sec (Fast 40) transfer rates. The receiving frame contains one removable drive carrier
designed to provide durable and reliable mounting for one 3.5" form factor, Wide Ultra2 (LVD)
SCSI drive.
The DE100i-SWU2X allows a drive to be removed and transported to another DE100i-SWU2X-
equipped computer or expansion chassis, and also provides the ability to secure sensitive data
by removing and storing the drive safely for future use. Up to fifteen (15) DE100i-SWU2X units
can be attached to one host adapter.
NOTES: For SCSI Ultra2 (LVD) operation, the DE100i-SWU2X requires LVD chassis and
cabling.
The DE100i-SWU2X supports LVD implementations with a maximum of 15 drives
within one external enclosure (for enhanced, bus-isolating hot swap capability, the
DX1/200-U2/RH Isolator Board is required).
