Directions for Use
Case Scenario
The patient scenario contains information vital to the learner’s successful performance of subsequent
venous cannulation. Read and understand the case scenario, review the vital signs, and look at the yel-
low bulleted highlights below to ensure that you select the correct equipment and cannulation site for
the case presented.
The case scenarios become more difficult as you progress in competency training mode from level (1)
to level (IV). In levels (1I1) and (IV) yellow highlights are not provided.
Once you have read and understand the case scenario, advance to the next screen.
Site Selection
Click on an extremity or the head of the infant in the upper left corner of the screen.
Select the specific site for IV catheterization from the buttons at the top center of the screen.
(Note: You can perform an insertion only at the selected site. At any time, you can
change sites by selecting Site Selection from within the Simulation screen.)
Once you have selected the site you would like to attempt, advance to the next screen.
