Set Up the Invertebrate Habitat Kit in five easy
steps
Step 1: Optional electrical equipment (1 - 7)
Place the Glass Terrarium in its final location and remove the top screen by unlocking the four
clips, two by two.
Before proceeding, ensure that you have installed all electrical components intended for the inside
of the terrarium.
Skip this step and proceed to step 2 if you do not have any additional electrical items to install (not
included in this kit).
Substrate Heater (e.g. Exo Terra Heat Wave)
Before installing your substrate or under tank hearer, please refer to the Instruction Manual
supplied with the substrate heater or under tank heater.
Turn the Glass Terrarium upside down and clean the bottom carefully to remove any dust and/or
grease.
To ensure a cooling area, position the device at least 1 cm from the plastic frame in such a way
that no more then 2/3 of the terrarium bottom is covered by the heater.
Rubber spacers (usually provided with the substrate heater) are NOT required since the bottom is
raised by the plastic frame.
Ensure that air is not trapped in between the terrarium and the substrate heater.
Turn the Glass Terrarium back to its upright position.
Internal equipment (e.g. Exo Terra Heat Wave Rock)
Carefully remove the Exo Terra Background from the Glass Terrarium. Position the device in its
final location within the Glass Terrarium and insert the power cord through one of the wire inlets
found on the top frame. Put the Background carefully back by gently pressing the four corners,
ensuring that the wire exits through one of the bottom cut-outs and runs through the rim behind
the background. Close the other wire inlets that are not used.
Step 2: The Substrate (8 - 9)
Make sure the Background is in its proper position and pressed to the back glass plate of the
Glass Terrarium. Taking care not to spill the contents, carefully cut open the supplied bag of Exo
Terra Desert Sand. Pour and distribute the Desert Sand evenly throughout the terrarium bottom.
Step 3: The Decoration (10 - 15)
First position the Reptile Cave, in the desired position. Make sure that the openings face the
Background for the best optical result and to ensure a feeling of protection in the animals housed
in this Invertebrate Habitat Kit. Optional hydrated Exo Terra Sphagnum Moss or Forest Moss can be
added to create a humid hideout for animals requiring
this environment.
Position the Exo Terra Jungle Plant at the back of the terrarium, using the suction cups to affix
them to the glass or by attaching them to the Background.
Position the Exo Terra Water Insect Dish near the front in an easy accessible location. Make
sure that the Water Dish is level to ensure maximum water capacity. You should be able to re-fill
the Water Dish through one of the front doors to prevent accidental escape of the terrarium
inhabitants. Use a glass or small pitcher to fill the Water Dish with fresh, clean water.
Step 4: The Lighting system (16 - 18)
Re-install the top screen. Ensure that it is properly locked with the four clips.
Place the Exo Terra Compact Top Canopy on the Glass Terrarium’s top screen (towards the front
or back of the screen, depending on the position of the Rock Outcrop or on personal taste). Please
note that the closer the animal can move towards the source of UV light (Repti Glo 10.0) the more
beneficial UV radiation it will receive.
Once the Compact Top Canopy is in place, it can be plugged in and switched on.
Step 5: Finalize your Invertebrate Habitat Kit (19 - 20)
Position the Exo Terra Hygrometer and Thermometer on the sides of the Glass Terrarium, away
from the immediate radiation of the light source. The location should give you an average
temperature and relative humidity reading.
Double check that all of the components work properly and are in their final location. Using the
front door, put your hand inside the terrarium and gently push on the top screen to ensure that all
four clips are properly locked in place.

Maintenance of the Invertebrate Habitat Kit
All dead feeding insects, leftover foods or other biological material should be removed daily from
the habitat. Clean all decoration items by soaking them in a solution of 1 part bleach to 30 parts
water once a month. Soak for at least 1 hour and let them air dry completely. If undesired white
spots or a whitish film (calcium deposits) is present on the glass, carefully clean the glass with a
50/50 solution of water and vinegar.

cinq étapes faciles
Étape 1 : Équipement électrique facultatif (1 - 7)
Déposer le terrarium en verre dans son emplacement final et retirer le couvercle grillagé en
déverrouillant les quatre fermoirs, deux par deux.
S’assurer d’installer d’abord toutes les pièces électriques prévues pour l’intérieur du terrarium.
Dans le cas où aucun équipement électrique additionnel (non compris dans cet habitat équipé)
n’est installé, sauter cette étape et se rendre à l’étape 2.
Pellicule chauffante de substrat (p. ex. Heat Wave Exo Terra)
Consulter également le mode d’emploi de la pellicule chauffante de substrat installée sous le
terrarium ou sur ses parois. Tourner le terrarium en verre à l’envers et nettoyer soigneusement
le dessous pour enlever la poussière et la graisse. Placer l’appareil à au moins 1 cm du cadre
de plastique de telle sorte que pas plus des 2/3 du dessous du terrarium en soient couverts afin
d’assurer un endroit frais. Des butoirs en caoutchouc (habituellement fournis avec la pellicule
chauffante de substrat) ne sont pas nécessaires parce que la base du terrarium est soulevée par
le cadre en plastique. Vérifier que l’air n’est pas bloqué entre le verre et la pellicule chauffante de
substrat. Tourner de nouveau le terrarium en verre à l’endroit.
Équipement intérieur (p. ex. Roche Heat Wave Exo Terra)
Retirer avec soin l’arrière-plan Exo Terra du terrarium en verre. Placer approximativement
l’appareil dans son emplacement final à l’intérieur du terrarium en verre et insérer le cordon
d’alimentation dans une entrée du cadre supérieur prévue pour les fils. Replacer soigneusement
l’arrière-plan en pressant doucement aux quatre coins et vérifier que le fil de la roche Heat Wave
sort de la base d’une des découpes de l’arrière-plan et glisse ensuite le long de cette découpe.
Fermer les autres entrées de fils qui ne sont pas utilisées.
Étape 2 : Substrat (8 - 9)
S’assurer que l’arrière-plan est à l’endroit approprié et pressé sur la paroi de verre arrière du
terrarium en verre. Ouvrir soigneusement avec des ciseaux le sac fourni de Sable du désert Exo
Terra et verser son contenu dans le terrarium. Répartir également le sable du désert dans le fond
du terrarium.
Étape 3 : Décoration (10 - 15)
Disposer d’abord la grotte pour reptiles, à l’endroit désiré. S’assurer que son ouverture est
située près de l’arrière-plan pour le meilleur aménagement possible et pour que les animaux
se sentent protégés dans cet habitat équipé pour invertébrés.. Les mousses de tourbière ou de
forêt hydratées Exo Terra peuvent aussi être ajoutées afin de créer une cachette humide pour des
animaux ayant besoin de cet environnement.
Placer la plante de jungle Exo Terra à l’arrière du terrarium et utiliser les ventouses pour la fixer
sur la paroi de verre ou sur l’arrière-plan.
Déposer le bol à eau et à insectes Gecko Dish Exo Terra près de l’avant dans un endroit facilement
accessible. Vérifier que le bol à eau est parfaitement horizontal pour le remplir au maximum.
On devrait pouvoir le remplir de nouveau en utilisant une des portes avant pour prévenir la fuite
accidentelle des habitants du terrarium. Employer un verre ou un petit pot pour remplir le bol à
eau avec de l’eau fraîche et propre.
Étape 4 : Système d’éclairage (16 - 18)
Installer de nouveau le couvercle grillagé. S’assurer qu’il est convenablement verrouillé avec les
quatre fermoirs.
Déposer la rampe d’éclairage Compact Top Exo Terra sur le couvercle grillagé du terrarium en
verre (à l’avant ou à l’arrière du couvercle, selon la place de la formation rocheuse ou selon son
goût personnel). Il faut noter que plus l’animal peut s’approcher de la source de lumière UV
(Repti Glo 10.0) plus le rayonnement UV lui sera bénéfique.
Une fois la rampe d’éclairage Compact Top en place, elle peut être branchée et allumée.
Étape 5 : Aménagement final de votre habitat équipé pour invertébrés (19 - 20)
Installer l’hygromètre et le thermomètre Exo Terra sur la paroi latérale du terrarium en verre, loin
du rayonnement immédiat de la source de lumière. Cet emplacement devrait vous fournir une
lecture de la température moyenne et de l’humidité relative.
Vérifier une fois de plus si toutes les pièces fonctionnent convenablement et sont dans leur
emplacement final. Mettre une main à l’intérieur du terrarium et pousser doucement vers le haut
sur le couvercle grillagé pour s’assurer que les quatre fermoirs sont verrouillés comme il faut.
C’est maintenant le temps d’installer les animaux dans leur habitat! Vérifier le site Web

Entretien de l’habitat équipé pour invertébrés
Tous les insectes morts servant à nourrir les reptiles, les restes d’aliments ou les autres matières
biologiques devraient être retirés quotidiennement de l’habitat des reptiles. Une fois par mois, il
faut nettoyer tous les articles de décoration en les faisant tremper dans une solution d’une mesure
d’eau de Javel pour 30 mesures d’eau. Faire tremper pendant au moins une heure et faire sécher
complètement à l’air. Si des taches blanches ou une couche blanchâtre (des dépôts de calcium)
indésirables apparaissent sur le verre, les nettoyer soigneusement avec une solution moitié-moitié
d’eau et de vinaigre.
