4.0 Calibration

AUTION
:
The
RECON/4
will Auto Zero when you enter the calibration menu. Please fully charge the
RECON/4
and put the
instrument into a clean air environment before proceeding with this procedure.
The
RECON/4
is capable of calibrating all active channels at the same time. However, you may elect to calibrate individual
gas sensors. During calibration, the
RECON/4
automatically determines if a single gas or multi gas is being applied.
With the
RECON/4
ON, Press and hold the button, the
RECON/4
will turn OFF; continue to press the button until the
instrument restarts. The Display will show Calibration followed by Warming Up, and will list the proper concentrations of
calibration gasses.
After warming up, the
RECON/4
begins Zero calibration (Zero Cal). A bar graph will appear indicating the zero calibration
time (1 minute). Connect the gas cylinder to the regulator and the calibration cover. DO NOT open the valve on the
regulator.
When Zero Cal is complete the screen will display Span Cal and a bar graph and the active sensors with their associated
reference numbers.
Note: The
RECON/4
is comparing internal data to the sensor reference numbers listed in the display. The bar graph will fill
from left to right. Note sensor reference numbers. If they are stable (not changing), proceed to the next step. If they are
changing wait for the bar graph to fill (4 minutes). At completion of the 4 minutes the calibration process will automatically
continue and the display will now indicate Cal Span Time 2 Min and a % sign.
At completion of the 4 minute Span Cal, or when you see that the reference numbers for the sensors are stable, connect the
calibration cover to the
RECON/4
Open the valve on the regulator to apply the calibration gas. The bar graph will fill in and the % sigh will change to indicate
the calibration completion time. Do not press the button on the
RECON/4
or interrupt the gas flow during this procedure.
The
RECON/4
will automatically analyze the gas and process the calibration.
After calibration, the screen will display the calibrated gas(es) name and relative data. For each calibrated sensor you will see
two sets of calibration numbers, Zero and Span for each sensor that detected calibration gas, and then the
RECON/4
will
automatically turn off. If you do not see both sets of numbers for the sensor(s), calibration was not completed successfully.
Note: The
RECON/4
automatically determines if a single or multi gas is applied, you will only see calibration numbers for
the gas/gases that are being applied; the remaining sensors are not affected.
If you are calibrating individual sensors repeat the above process
If the calibration was unsuccessful wait one hour and repeat the calibration procedure
