Enjoying Surround Sound
Using only the front
speakers and sub woofer
— 2CH STEREO
In this mode, the reeeiver outputs the sound
from the front left/right speakers and sub
woofer.
When multi ehannel surround formats are input,
the signals are downmixed to 2 ehannel with
bass frequeneies being output from the sub
woofer.
When standard 2 ehannel stereo sourees are
input, the reeeiver’s bass redireetion eireuitry
will be aetivated. The front ehannel bass
frequeneies will be output from the sub woofer.
Press 2CH.
“2CH ST.” appears in the display and the
reeeiver switehes to the 2CH STEREO mode.

— AUTO FORMAT DIRECT
The Auto Format Direet (A.F.D.) mode allows
you to seleet the deeoding mode you want for
your audio sound.

Decoding the input audio
signal automatically
In this mode, the reeeiver automatieally deteets
the type of audio signal being input (Dolby
Digital, DTS, standard 2 ehannel stereo, ete.)
and performs the proper deeoding if neeessary.
This mode presents the sound as it was reeorded/
eneoded, without adding any surround effeets.
However, if there are no low frequeney signals
(Dolby Digital LFE, ete.) it will generate a low
frequeney signal for output to the sub woofer.
Press A.F.D. repeatedly to select “A.F.D.
AUTO”.
The reeeiver automatieally deteets the type of
audio signal being input and performs the proper
deeoding if neeessary.
