Cutting PTO Shaft
1. After determining how much to cut off, be sure
to cut off equal lengths of each PTO shaft
section, but be careful not to cut off too much.
Clamp end of PTO shaft in a vice, and cut off
shield where marked. (See Fig. 1).
2. Using the cut section of the shield as a guide,
cut the same amount off of each shaft.
(See Fig. 2A, 2B & 2C).
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the other section
of the PTO shaft.
4. Use a file to deburr the PTO shafts. Clean
up all chips, burrs and filings from both
ends of the PTO shaft.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the bolt that attaches
the PTO shaft to the gearbox gets sheared,
replace with a Grade 2 bolt ONLY.
Replacement with any other grade of bolt will
void your warranty and may cause permanent
damage to the PTO shaft, gearbox, or tractor.
BEFORE PUTTING
ROTARY CUT MOWER
INTO SERVICE
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
PRIOR TO OPERATING
THE MOWER IS SHIPPED WITHOUT OIL IN
GEAR BOX AND WITHOUT GREASE IN
GREASE FITTINGS. UNIT MUST BE
SERVICED BEFORE USING.
Fill gearbox using SAE 90 EP Gear Oil. Do not
overfill gearbox, this could cause pressure to
build up and oil seals to leak. If gearbox
suddenly starts making unusual noises, STOP
immediately and check oil level, refill if
needed.
Step 1 Place Mower so that the deck is
secure and level.
Step 2 Remove ½" Pipe Plug (located at top
of gearbox) and 1/8" Pipe Plug
(located at lower 1/3 of gearbox.
Step 3 Fill gearbox using SAE 90 EP Gear Oil
through top ½" fill hole until gear oil is
level with lower 1/8" hole.
Step 4 Replace both the ½" pipe plug
(located at top of gear box) and 1/8"
pipe plug (located at lower 1/3 of gear
box) and clean off any excess oil.
DO NOT overfill gearbox. This could cause
damage to oil seals and can cause
permanent damage to the gearbox. This
issue will not be covered under warranty.
