Step 4: Applying Power
When installing the module in an enclosure, power up the device by inserting a power cord to an
AC outlet. During the boot-up process, which may take up to 20 seconds, the LEDs will turn
amber and the STA LED will flash amber until the boot-up process is complete. If the switches
are set to the default setting, the STA LED will light up red, CFG green and FDX green after the
boot-up process. All other LEDs on the module are off.
Step 5: Management Access
To access the user interface of the L351, a VT100 session must be created through
HyperTerminal or a comparable VT100 terminal. When accessing the management interface
through a UCS 1020, connect a DB-9 EIA-232, straight cable from your PC or laptop (COM 1 or
any open COM port) to the EIA-232 port of the UCS 1020 or DMM. Accessing the management
interface through the 1230 BAM requires a DB-9 to RJ cable available through Canoga Perkins,
p/n CRJ-D9F-10.
Create a HyperTerminal session from your laptop or terminal through the
Programs/Accessories/Communications/HyperTerminal menu.
