5. Press the TOAST/STOPP button and the bread
will automatically be lowered and centred in the slot
(picture A). The TOAST/STOPP button illuminates red.

Note: The TOAST/STOPP- button only operates when the appliance is connected to
the power supply. Pulling the plug during operation the bread remains in the slots.
Reconnecting the appliance the bread automatically raises.

The toasting process is automatically controlled. Shortly before the toasting process is finished
the power indicator of the TOAST/STOPP button will start blinking. When the selected
browning level is reached, the toaster switches off automatically, and the power indicator of
the TOAST/STOPP button eliminates.

Tips for Best Results

• You may cancel the toasting process at any time; simply press the TOAST/STOPP button.

• The required browning level depends on your special liking and the type and freshness of
the toasted cakes and pastries. For example: a short toasting time (low browning level)
is sufficient for toasting raisin pastry and fine white bread; but for toasting rye bread you
must select a higher browning level to get a similar result.

• You can crisp up rolls by cutting the rolls in halves, using a sharp knife, and activating the
EINSEITIG TOASTEN function. Ensure, that the slices are max. 3 cm thick and will not
stick in the slots (see: ‘The EINSEITIG TOASTEN Function’). Alternatively, to toast rolls as
a whole, place the rolls tray on the toaster and then place the rolls on the rolls tray.

• Ensure to make an even and smooth cut. Use a sharp bread knife for cutting. Remove
crumbs and protruding rims, especially when crisping up halved rolls.

WARNING: Never insert your fingers in the slots, while the toaster is connected to the
power supply. Always switch off and unplug the appliance and wait for the appliance
to cool, before removing any jammed bread or crumbs.

• If bread sticks or jams in the slots, switch off (TOAST/STOPP button) and unplug the
toaster and let the toaster cool down. Then remove the bread slices carefully and without
violence. Ensure not to touch the heating elements on the sides of the slots to avoid damage.

• To check the doneness during the toasting process, just press the TOAST/STOPP button.
The toasting process will get stopped. When pressing the TOAST/STOPP button again
you start a new toasting process. Ensure to lower the browning control level to prevent
the bread from burning.

• If the toaster is not operated for a few minutes the buttons illuminate goes out. Using
one of the buttons of the toaster will illuminate the selected button again.

• It is recommended to empty the crumb tray after each use to avoid crumbs becoming
charred and sticking on the crumb tray (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’). Do not use the toaster
without the crumb tray in place.
