4. Put the battery unit in the battery box. Check the electrical connection by switching the appliance on and

then off. If the brush system doesn't start when the sweeper is turned on, the battery needs to be charged.

HOW TO CHARGE THE BATTERY

Please note that the battery charger should only be connected to 230V/50Hz mains electricity.
Always check the mains voltage is the same as the figure indicated on the charger casing before
connecting it; do not use the charger if there is any difference. Be particularly careful when visiting
other countries as their mains voltage may differ from 230V/50Hz.

1. The battery supplied with a new sweeper will already be partly charged. Use the appliance until the battery is

flat and the motor stops running, then turn it off. Remove the battery unit from the battery box on the handle
by pressing the clips simultaneously on both sides and lifting the battery out.

2. Put the battery unit in the battery charger so that the curved surface of the battery faces the charge indicator

light. It should clip into the charger on both sides. After charging, the battery can be released by pressing the
clips.

3. Connect the battery charger (with the battery inside) to a mains socket. Using a wall-mounted mains socket is

recommended because the battery unit can face downwards, providing a stable connection. The charging
process is indicated by a red light on the battery charger. (This light will remain on when the battery is fully
charged). It is important to charge the battery for an uninterrupted 14-hour period when it is first charged.
When charging is complete, return the battery to the appliance and use it as normal. Eventually you will
notice the rotation of the brushes slowing, indicating the need to recharge the battery. Again, charge the
battery for an uninterrupted 14-hour period. This cycle of 'preconditioning' the battery by charging it fully
and then running it down completely should be repeated three or four times when first using the appliance.
After the battery has been preconditioned, you'll only need to recharge it for 6 to 8 hours. It's also not
necessary to wait until the battery has run down completely before charging it, although we recommend a
full 14-hour charge at least once every six months. Never leave the battery on charge for more than 24 hours
because this could damage the battery.

Note: rechargeable batteries lose their capacity to hold charge as they get older, even if they are
charged carefully and used regularly. Your battery will need to be replaced when it no longer
provides 15 minutes of use after a 6-8 hour charge. Replacements are available from authorised
service engineers.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE SWEEPER

1. Unpack the appliance.

2. Handle the packaging material according to the instructions on each item.

Do not allow children to play with the packaging!

Carefully check the appliance to ensure it is complete and undamaged. You should only use the appliance if it is
complete and has not suffered any damage.

3. Assemble the handle of the sweeper. The top section ends in the grip, while the bottom section has the

battery box attached. Screw the grip section to the middle part by turning it clockwise, then screw the
battery box section to the middle part in the same way. Be careful when tightening each section. Attach the
assembled handle to the casing of the sweeper unit by 'snapping' the clips on the socket into the slots at the
bottom of the handle. (When removing the handle, the clips must be pressed simultaneously on both sides
while pulling the handle from the socket. Don't pull the handle at an angle when separating it from the
sweeper casing).
Make sure the indicator arrows are facing each other when you attach the handle to the socket on the casing.
The electrical connection will only work properly if the handle and base are assembled correctly; connecting
the handle incorrectly could damage the appliance.
