Problem
Possible causes
Coff ee does not run through.
• Machine is not turned on or plugged in.
• Water tank is empty.
• Selector control not in
position.
• Coff ee grind is too fi ne.
• Too much coff ee in the fi lter.
• The fi lter is blocked (see Care and Cleaning).
• Excessive tamping.
Coff ee runs out too quickly.
• Coff ee grind is too coarse.
• Incorrect quantity of coff ee in the fi lter basket.
• Not fi rmly tamped.
Coff ee runs too slowly.
• The water tank is empty or low.
• Coff ee grind is too fi ne.
• Machine is blocked by scale build up.
• Too much coff ee in the fi lter basket.
• Excessive tamping
Coff ee runs around the edge
of the fi lter holder.
• Filter holder is not inserted in the brew head
properly.
• There are coff ee grounds aff ecting the sealing around
the fi lter rim.
Coff ee is too weak or watery.
• Coff ee grind is not fi ne enough (use coff ee ground for
espresso machines).
• Not enough coff ee in the fi lter.
• Incorrect quantity of coff ee in the fi lter basket.
• Not fi rmly tamped.
Coff ee is cold.
• Machine not preheated.
• Cups not preheated.
• Milk not heated enough (if making a cappuccino or
latte) refer to Milk guide.
No crema.
• Coff ee grind is too coarse.
• Not enough coff ee in the fi lter.
• Incorrect quantity of coff ee.
• Not fi rmly tamped.
• Coff ee is not fresh.
No steam is generated.
• Machine is not turned on.
• Water tank is empty.
• Selector control not in
position.
• Steam wand is blocked.
Milk is not frothing.
• Not enough steam.
• Milk is not fresh and cold.
• Incorrect technique (refer to How to texture Milk).
