Loss of power

• Faulty spark plug.
• Dirty fuel filter.
• Stale or dirty fuel.
• Water in fuel.
• Spark plug wire loose.
• Dirty engine air screen/fins.
• Dirty/clogged muffler.
• Loose or damaged wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjustment.
■ Engine vaives out of adjust
ment.
• Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
■ Replace fuel filter.
• Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
• Drain fuel tank and carburetor,
refill tank with fresh gasoline and
replace fuel filter.
• Connect and tighten spark plug
wire.
• Clean engine air screen/fins.
• Clean/replace muffler.
• Check all wiring.
• See “To Adjust Carburetor” in
Service and Adjustments
section.
• Contact an authorized service
center.
Excessive vibration
• Worn, bent or ioose blade.
• Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
• Bent blade mandrel.
• Replace blade mandrel.
• Loose/damaged part(s).
• Tighten loose part(s). Replace
damaged parts.
Engine continues to
run when operator
leaves seat with at
tachment ciutch
engaged
• Faulty operator-safety pres
ence control system.
• Check wiring, switches and
connections. If not
corrected, contact an autho
rized service center/
department.
Poor cut uneven
• Worn, bent or loose blade.
• Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
• Mower deck not level.
• Level mower deck.
• Buildup of grass, leaves, and
trash under mower.
• Clean underside of mower
housing.
• Bent blade mandrel.
■ Replace blade mandrel.
• Clogged mower deck vent
holes from buildup of
grass, leaves, and trash
around mandrels.
• Clean around mandrels to open
vent holes.
Mower biades will not
rotate
• Obstruction in clutch mecha
nism.
• Remove obstruction.
• Worn/damaged mower drive
belt.
• Replace mower drive belt.
• Frozen idler pulley. .
• Replace idler pulley.
• Frozen blade mandrel.
• Replace blade mandrel.
Poor grass discharge
• Engine speed too slow.
• Place throttle control in “FAST”
position.
• Travel speed too fast.
• Shift to slower speed.
• Wet grass.
• Allow grass to dry before mow
ing.
• Mower deck not level.
• Level mower deck.
• Low/uneven tire air pressure.
• Check tires for proper air pres
sure.
• Worn, bent or loose blade.
• Replace/sharpen blade. Tighten
blade bolt.
