Entering the Service Tag in the BIOS
Removing the System Board
1.
Follow the procedures in

2.
Remove the battery (see
Removing the Battery
).
3.
Remove the optical drive (see
Removing the Optical Drive
).
4.
Remove the module cover (see
Removing the Module Cover
).
5.
Remove the coin-cell battery (see
Removing the Coin-Cell Battery
).
6.
Remove the memory module(s) (see
Removing the Memory Module(s)
).
7.
Remove the Mini-Card (see
Removing the Mini-Card
).
8.
Note the routing of the Mini-Card antenna cables and remove them from the routing guides on the bottom of the computer.
9.
Remove the hard drive (see
Removing the Hard Drive
).
10.
Remove the power button panel (see
Removing the Power Button Panel
).
11.
Remove the keyboard (see
Removing the Keyboard
).
12.
Remove the palm rest (see
Removing the Palm Rest
).
13.
Remove the Bluetooth
®
card (see
Removing the Bluetooth Card
).
14.
Remove the processor fan (see
Removing the Processor Fan
).
15.
Disconnect the following cables from their connectors on the system board:
l
microphone cable
l
AC adapter connector cable
l
display cable
l
speaker cable
16.
Lift the connector latch and slide the USB/audio cable out of the connector on the system board.
17.
Lift the connector latch and slide the optical drive board cable out of the connector on the system board.

To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see

) before working inside the
computer.
