Table 2-2 shows fabric management specifications.

PowerVault 51F optical port interfaces use a shortwave (780 to 850 nanometer [nm])
or long wavelength (1270 to 1350 nm) laser transmitter. The laser complies with 21
CFR, subpart (J) Class 1-laser safety requirements. It uses non-open Fibre Control
(OFC) optical gigabit interface converters (GBICs) in the switch circuit. The Class 1
laser limits optical power emitted by the port to allow safe operation, eliminating the
need for physical shutters. The optical GBIC uses the duplex-SC connector scheme.

The copper GBIC module is based on the High-Speed Serial Data Connection
(HSSDC) interface standards. The GBIC provides a female HSSDC connector. Cables
of 1, 6, and 12 meters (m) have currently been qualified. Standard cables with
HSSDC-to-DB9 male connectors are also available.

The PowerVault 51F switch’s primary operating environments are server rooms, net-
work equipment closets, and office environments. The acceptable environmental
conditions for a PowerVault 51F switch are shown in Table 2-3.
