PART C: CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM CATIONS
1.
Fill the test tube (0608) to the 12.9 mL line with sample water.
2. Add 5 drops of *Hardness Reagent #5 (4483). Cap and swirl to mix.
Add one Hardness Reagent Tablet #6 (4484). Cap and mix.
3. Fill the 0-200 Direct Reading Titrator (Red Print, 0382) with
Hardness Reagent #7 (4487DR) and insert the tip in the cap.
4. While gently swirling the tube, titrate until the color changes from
red to clear blue.
5. Read the test result from the Titrator in ppm CaCO
3
(Ca ++ and Mg ++ )
and record as Result C.
Calculate the Sodium content of the test sample from the formula:
(Result A + Result B - Result C) x 0.46 = ppm Sodium
