NOTE: Student use of the chemicals in this kit should be closely
supervised by a responsible adult. *Lead Reagent #2 (7665) contains toxic
sodium cyanide
and should never be mixed with any acid - a reaction
which can liberate poisonous hydrogen cyanide gas! *Lead Dithizone
Reagent (4427) contains chloroform. Vapor can cause nausea and
unconsciousness if purposely inhaled. Skin contact with either reagent
should be followed immediately by a thorough washing with soap and
water. Waste water samples from the lead test should be collected in a
labeled glass or plastic bottle and held for disposal by an approved
hazardous waste disposal company.
