PRO CE DURE
FREE AVAIL ABLE CHLO RINE
1.
Fill a test tube (0106) to 5 mL line with sample water.
2. Add one *Chlorine DPD #1R Tablet (6999A). Cap and mix until
tablet disintegrates. Solution will turn pink if chlorine is present.
3. Insert test tube into the Octa-Slide Viewer (1100). Slide the 0.2 to
3.0 ppm Chlorine Octa-Slide Bar (3401) into the viewer. Match
sample color to a color standard. Record as Reading A. Save sample
for further tests.
Free Available Chlorine (ppm) = Reading A
MONOCHLORAMINE
4.
Add one Chlorine DPD #2R Tablet (6904A) to sample from Step 3.
Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
5. Insert test tube into the Octa-Slide Viewer (1100). Match sample
color to a color standard. Record as Reading B.
Monochloramine (ppm Chlorine) = Reading B - Reading A

Add one *Chlorine DPD #3R Tablet (6905A) to the sample from
Step 5. Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
7. Insert test tube into the Octa-Slide Viewer (1100). Match sample
color to a color standard. Record as Reading C.
Dichloramine (ppm Chlorine) = Reading C - Reading B
Total Residual Chlorine, ppm = Reading C
