Unitec APE Gate and Gate Controller for Multi-Lane Applications Installation Guide
The assembly must be removed (one wing nut/washer retains it in place) by
unplugging from the gate backplane board. The metal cover is held in place by four
metal screws (1/4” hex head). J1 is located near the end of the row of very small
black chips. After removal, replace the cover and screws, and plug the Auto Gate
Controller back in to the backplane. Replace the washer/wing nut.
The detector cards are identical (PD139D). However, each card has an eight-switch
dipswitch assembly and two jumper blocks, J5 and J8. Jumper block J5 is not used
and should be empty (no jumper). J8 has three pins, with markings on the board
beside it of “I” and “H”. A jumper must be installed on the two pins beside the “I”
marking.
The eight switches have their functions marked on the board. The normal settings for
the Reset Loop and Merge Loop cards are as follows:

The only thing that varies is SW2. This changes the loop frequency so adjacent loops
are different (for more information on setting channel frequencies for multiple gates,
see Section 6). If the merge loop is missing cars with large road clearance, SW3
would be set Off (High Sensitivity).
SW5 – SW8 are always set as above. Do not change their settings.
2.5 Wiring the Merge Zone Loop
Use the following procedures to wire the merge loop to the gate.
1.
Connect one loop lead to terminal 35 in the gate. The terminal is one of
two labeled LOOP B: ARMING/VEND
2.
Connect the second loop to terminal 36. The second terminal labeled
LOOP B: ARMING/VEND.
To communicate the loop signal to the Wash Select II you need 2 wires through the
conduit from the gate to the Gate Controller as follows:
3.
A jumper wire must be connected to terminal 1 in the gate. The other end
attaches to terminal 33, one of the two output terminals for the second
loop detector card labeled AUX ARMING/VEND DETECTOR O/P.
4.
A wire from the terminal 34, the other AUX ARMING/VEND DETECTOR
O/P terminal, goes to the Gate controller and attaches to terminal 35.
