Current source mode
1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.
. Select 0-0 mA or -0 mA range.
3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-00 mV position.
. Connect the instrument up as shown above.
To monitor the output, connect a multimeter across V+ and V-. The
voltage terminals will output 0-00 mV for 0-0 mA.
Voltage source mode
1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.
. Select 0-0 mA (for 0-5 V output) or -0 mA range (for 1-5 V output).
3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-5 V position.
. Connect up the instrument as shown above.
Millivolt source mode
1. Select source mode with the ‘source/sink mode’ lockable switch.
. Select 0-0 mA (for 0-00 mV output)
or -0 mA range (for 0-00 mV output).
3. Set the ‘voltage/millivolt select’ switch to the 0-00 mV position.
. Connect up the instrument as shown above.
You can use the Portacal 75 in this mode to accurately calibrate a
millivolt or thermocouple transmitter provided you measure the output
with a suitably accurate multimeter.
