6. Installation – Chimney, Skylight, and Vent/Pipe Penetrations
A. All applicable building and fire codes shall be followed with respect to placement of roof underlayments near heat
producing vents or chimneys.
7. Installation – Valley and Ridge Areas
A. A single 24 inch wide layer of roof underlayment shall be installed and centered vertically at all valley, hip and ridge
areas prior to installation of the underlayment in the field or main area of the roof.
B. Self-adhering flashing around protrusions or metal drip edges shall be installed over the roof underlayment to allow
for proper drainage and to prevent water backup. In valley locations, the valley self-adhering flashing shall overlap
the field roof underlayment.
C. The GreenGuard® Synthetic Roofing Underlayment shall be covered with the final roof covering as soon as possible
as it is not designed for prolonged outdoor exposure (maximum 6 months). The final roof covering shall be installed
in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
