SINGLE CHANNEL DMX512 CONTROLLED RELAY
Description: The Single Channel DM X512 Controlled Relay receives DM X512 and uses the dim m er
level to open or close a dry contact relay. The relay is closed w hen the level exceeds 60% . The
relay is opened w hen the level falls below 40% . The unit is w ired such that w hen the relay is
closed, the line voltage on the AC input (either 100 to 208 Volts or 220 to 240 Volts) is sw itched
onto the AC output (only the hot side is sw itched).
Line Input: The line cord is fitted w ith a parallel blade w ith ground (PBG) plug. The unit m ay be
pow ered by either 100 to 208 Volts or 220 to 240 Volts, 50 or 60 Hz. If a different plug is
required, cut off the parallel blade connector and w ire on the desired plug using the follow ing color
code: Green/yellow = Ground, Brow n = Hot, Blue = Neutral.
Line Output: The unit's output is on an IEC-320 connector. This connector plugs directly into m ost
fog m achines and hazer units. If a different connector is required, cut off the IEC-320 connector and
w ire on the desired receptacle using the follow ing color code: Green/yellow = Ground, Brow n =
Hot, Blue = Neutral.
DM X Input: The DM X signal is applied to the m ale five-pin XLR connector.
DM X Output: The DM X signal is looped through to the female XLR connector to continue the signal
run to other devices. (All five pins are looped through).
DM X Term ination: No internal term ination is provided. The last device on a DM X run should be
term inated w ith a 120 ohm term ination plug.
Starting Address: The starting address (the dim m er num ber that w ill control the relay) is set using
the three sw itches on the front panel. Set the num ber to the starting address.
Test M ode: Setting the address sw itch to 601 w ill close the relay to allow testing the output device
w ithout a DM X512 signal. It is also a good w ay to verify that the DM X Controlled Relay unit is
w orking. W hen in test mode the signal indicator w ill flash.
AC Input Indicator: The red ac input indicator should illum inate w henever pow er is applied. If it fails
to light, first check that your outlet is good. If the unit is receiving power, the internal fuse m ay be
blow n. To check the fuse, unplug the unit and rem ove the top panel. The line fuse is a 1/2 Am p
fast blow .
AC Output Indicator: The green output indicator w ill illum inate w hen the relay is closed, supplying
pow er to the output connector.
Signal Indicator: The green signal indicator w ill illum inate w hen a valid dm x signal is received. The
indicator w ill flash w hen the unit is in test m ode (Address sw itch set to 6XX).
