3.2 Gel Casting in Unit using tapered baffles
1. Lift lid so that it rests in up position.
2.Place gel tray in center of horizontal gel
bed.
3. Remove black tapered baffles from stor-
age position and Slide them snugly into
the grooves next to the bed,
handles to
the outside. The tapered baffles will rest
friction tight against the gel bed. Do NOT
press the baffles too tightly into the stops.
4. Position the gel comb, remembering, cur-
rent travels from negative (black cathode)
towards positive (red anode). Add addi-
tional combs if desired.
5.Make agarose solution according to manu-
facturer’s instructions. Use caution when
handling hot agarose solution! Pour mol-
ten agarose solution into gel tray. Allow to
cool uncovered until agarose turn opaque.
Stains may be added during this step. Use
according to manufacturer’s recommenda-
tions.
