• Chemical Resistance
The ABS covered float and mild PVC jacketed cable are compatible with a
wide range of liquids. However, there are some liquids that will damage the
floats.
ABS may be immediately damaged by the following liquids:
Aromatics (benzene, toluene, xylene)
Esters and Ketones may cause swelling.
PVC should be used with caution in the following:
Oils, especially vegetable oils and fats, tends to absorb by the plasticizer of
mild PVC jacketed cable. Consequently the cable stiffens. The flexibility
decreases as the duration of immersion increases. If necessary, an alternative
hypalon cable is available. The TLS can also be damaged by some chemicals
such as hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, etc.
In general, the resistance to damage depends on concentration, duration of
immersion, presence of the suspended solids, temperature, and/or corrosive
gases. Although the TLS is designed for long life, we recommend that they be
replaced at adequate intervals.
