The safety temperature limit must be set at least 10K under the flas-
hpoint of the tempering fluid used.
Never operate the heating baths without tempering fluid!
Filling and emptying when hot can lead to accidents, especially scalds.
Please observe the accident prevention regulations applicable for the
job and place of work, wear protective goggles and gloves.
Take care when touching the external jacket, as it can heat up to over
80˚C.
When working with temperature sensitive mediums please consider:
Upon continious operation with high sped and a room temperature of
20°C a warming up of the housing up to 40°C is possible
When using an oil bath, only low-viscosity oils must be used, since
using high-viscosity oils or solid grease can lead to overheating in
localized areas, causing excessive pressure to builtup in the bot-
tom of the vessel.
When using an water bath, we recommend you use water with no
mineral content.
The IKA tempering baths HBR4 digital, HB4 digital and HB4 basic are
laboratory devices and are suitable for directly tempering substances fil-
led into the bath container.
Please unpack the equipment carefully and check for any damages. It is
important that any damages which may have arisen during transport are
ascertained when unpacking. If applicable a fact report must be set
immediately (post, rail or forwarder).
The delivery scope covers: an IKA tempering bath and operating instruc-
tions.
Check whether the voltage specified on the type plate matches the
mains voltage available. The power socket used must be earthed (pro-
tective earth conductor contact). If these conditions are met, the device
is ready to operate after plugging in the mains plug. If these procedures
are not followed, safe operation cannot be guaranteed and/or the equip-
ment may be damaged.
