NOTE : Excessive tightening of the center compression nut is
not necessary to form a good seal around the tube
and may damage the O-ring, the seal housing tube, or
the threads of the compression nut.
NOTE : Make sure the seal housing tube is all of the way into
the center compression nut while you are tightening.
4.12
Reinstalling the Axles
Reinstall the axles and brake assembly according to the guidelines set
forth in your vehicle manufacturers service manual.
NOTE : Be careful not to damage the axle oil seals with the
spline of the axle when inserting them.
NOTE : The axles in the two following sections require special
consideration at the time of re-assembly. Please
determine if they apply to your assembly and follow
them accordingly.
4.12.1
Nissan MQ Patrol Front Differential
NOTE : This section applies to the front differentials of Nissan
MQ Patrols only. Both axle shafts are to be modified
as described below.
c The left-hand front axle must have part of the raised section
machined away to prevent the axle shaft from fouling the Air
Locker. The necessary modification is shown in Figure 21.
