13.2 BRITA MAXTRA filter cartridge
This section summarises the most common problems you could encounter with the BRITA MAXTRA

Problem Solution
The coffee tastes
differently after I have
descaled the machine.
You may have forgotten to remove the BRITA MAXTRA filter cartridge
before you descaled the machine. If you did not remove the filter
cartridge before descaling, you have to replace it and flush the machine
(see chapter ‘Descaling’, section ‘Flushing after descaling’).
Black water comes out of
the new BRITA MAXTRA
filter cartridge.
The BRITA MAXTRA filter cartridge contains activated carbon. This
activated carbon can be released into your filtered water as black
particles. These particles have no negative health effects. If ingested, they
will not harm the human body.
If you observe carbon particles, BRITA recommends that you flush the
cartridge several times or until the black particles disappear.
