Removing and reattaching the frame stand
Attention: Do not remove the computer cover or attempt any repairs
before reading the “Important safety information” in the Safety and
Warranty Guide that was included with your computer or in the Hardware
Maintenance Manual (HMM) for the computer. To obtain copies of the
Safety and Warranty Guide or HMM, go to the Support Web site at:

This section provides instructions on how to remove and reattach the frame stand.
Note: The frame stand is available only for some models.
To remove and reattach the frame stand, do the following.
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices.
2. Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.
3. Disconnect all cables attached to the computer.
4. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or flat surface. Hold the sides of
your computer and gently lay it down so that the screen is resting on the towel
or cloth and the cover is facing up.
5. Remove the rubber block that protects the screw . Carefully loosen the
screw that secures the frame stand. Then, lift the frame stand up to remove
it from the computer.
Note: The screw cannot be removed from the frame stand.
