Installation and operations manual

Shakeup Receiver with vibrator

Model SU5001-V

General

The Silent Call Shakeup receiver with vibrator is a table top AC operated alerting device. It is used in
conjunction with any Silent Call smoke or fire transmitter. When the Shakeup receiver detects a signal
from a Silent Call smoke or fire transmitter, it illuminates the front panel FIRE LED and activates the bed
vibrator. The indication will continue for approximately 15 seconds after the transmission ceases.

Installation

Installing the Shakeup receiver consists of locating it within approximately 100 feet of the Silent Call
transmitters and plugging the power supply into a household AC outlet. Place the vibrator in between the
mattress and box spring, of your bed, under where you normally sleep. For best operation, the Shakeup
receiver should not be placed closer than 10 feet to a personal computer. Some computers emit strong
signals on random frequencies and this can interfere with the operation of your Shakeup. For best range, the
Shakeup receiver should also not be placed on or near large metallic objects.

Operation

Each time it receives a signal from a Silent Call smoke or fire transmitter with a matching system code, the
Shakeup receiver will illuminate the FIRE LED and activate the vibrator. This indication will continue for
15 seconds after the transmission(s) cease. Since the Smoke Sensor and Fire Alarm transmitters transmit as
long as the alarm condition is present, the Shakeup will remain in alarm as long as the smoke or fire
transmitter is transmitting.

The Shakeup receiver will work with any Silent Call smoke or fire transmitter.

Programming

NOTE: Your Shakeup receiver leaves the factory already programmed for the factory default code.
It does NOT need to be programmed unless you have changed the code on your transmitters.

The Silent Call alerting system is digitally coded. Each Silent Call transmitter contains a five position code
switch. The Shakeup receiver can be set to respond to one or more different transmitter codes. All Silent
Call devices including the Shakeup receiver leave the factory set to the default code of 1=off, 2=off, 3=off,
4=on, 5=on. Ordinarily, this code will not need to be changed unless your system is within 100-200 feet of
another Silent Call system. In that case, simply set all transmitters to a different code, erase the code
memory in the Shakeup, and then reprogram the Shakeup receiver as follows:

To erase all programmed codes:
1. Unplug the Shakeup.
2. Open the access hatch on the bottom of the Shakeup and locate the PROGRAM button.
3. Press and hold the PROGRAM button. While pressing the program button, plug the Shakeup in and

then release the PROGRAM button. This will erase all codes in the Shakeup memory.
