Installation and Operating Instructions
Fire alarm transmitter with voltage input
Model FA1004-4
Installation
Please contact a licensed fire alarm installer for installation and working with this product. Improper installation can damage
your fire alarm and/or prevent proper operation of the fire alarm. Technical support is available at (800) 572-5227.
1. The FA1004-4 is designed to interface with a switched source of 12-24VDC. It will transmit as long as the voltage is present and
will stop transmitting when the voltage is removed.
2. The FA1004-4 is powered by the voltage and consumes approximately 8 mA when transmitting. The input is diode blocked and
will not interfere with most supervision schemes including polarity reversal.
3. Connect the FA1004-4 to a switched 12 or 24VDC voltage output from the fire panel -- OR -- to the 24V horn / strobe output.
Operation
1. The FA1004-4 will transmit as long as the input voltage is above approximately 10VDC. If connected to the horn / strobe line, it
will transmit as long as the horn is sounding.
2. When transmitting, the FA1004-4 will cause a FIRE indication on any Silent Call receiver.
3. Range is approximately 100-500 feet, depending on the receiver you are using and the local conditions.
4. The FA1004-4 is powered by the input voltage and does not require a battery.
Switch settings
The Silent Call system is digitally coded. The code sent by the transmitter must match the code that your receiver has been set for.
All Silent Call receivers and transmitters leave the factory set for the default code of 1, 2 and 3 = OFF and 4 and 5 = ON. Unless you
have changed the code in your receiver from the factory default setting, you do not need to change the switch settings in your
transmitter.
The code switch is accessed by removing the battery cover. The first five positions (left to right)
determine the code that the transmitter sends when it activates. Positions 6-9 determine which light
activates on your receiver. Do not change the settings of positions 6-9. If you accidentally disturb them,
the correct setting for positions 6-9 is 6 ON, 7 ON, 8 ON, 9 OFF.
