Plug in the power lead at the rear of the control panel and apply power. A bleep is heard and

the current temperature is displayed. If the unit has been stored in hot location and the
temperature display is reading above 25°C wait for the temperature to fall.

Depending on the pipe size to be frozen, select the correct pipe size button. If two different
size Pipes are to be frozen select the larger pipe size from the control panel.

Press the

Freeze button.

Press the

On / Off button.

The temperature on the display will now fall.

The three pipe size buttons activate different timer circuits dependant on the size of the pipe to
be frozen. After a predetermined time an audible bleep can be heard indicating that the pipe is

frozen.

Important. The audible bleep is only a guide to a completed freeze, a solid ice plug will only be
achieved if:

 (a) the freezer jaws are sufficiently far away from large mass object such as pumps, gate

valves and the adverse effects of drafts etc.

 (b) the ambient temperature is less than 25°C and the water within the pipe is not badly

contaminated.

Extra time should be allowed if any of the above factors are present and always carry out a
physical inspection before cutting into pipes.

After completion of work press

Thaw button to melt the ice plug. The thaw circuit will cut

off after approximately 1 minute to prevent overheating of the jaws.

Should repeated pipe freezing be required, the unit should be allowed to cool unit the display
temperature falls to below 25°C before the freezing process is re-started.

NOTE 8mm-10mm pipes:
8mm and 10mm micro bore pipes are malleable and not perfectly straight, to ensure a good
contact is made, the reducers have been manufactured fractionally oversize. It is strongly

recommended than a piece of paper coated on both sides with heat-conductive paste is placed
around the pipe and press the jaw firmly against the pipe.

Danger!
Danger of frostbite! The aluminium parts of the freezer head can have a
temperature as low as -40°C during the freezing process!

Only touch the freezer head wearing suitable protective equipment!
