Expansion cards are printed circuit boards that can be installed in your
computer to give it special capabilities, such as enhanced video capabilities,
networking and communications, and additional processing power. Your
Macintosh has slots available for several different kinds of expansion cards:

m a communication slot for an internal modem or Ethernet card
m a video-in slot for a card that brings signals into the computer from a

videocassette recorder (VCR), laserdisc player, video camera, or similar
device

m a processor-direct slot (PDS) for most cards
m a monitor-out slot for a tiny card with a cable that can be connected to an

external video connector card, which can be used for video mirroring
