be closer together than 1 ¼” (3cm).
• DO NOT plug this product in with the cables
coiled together as extreme overheating and
possible fi re can occur.
• DO NOT operate the unit with a damaged
cord, plug, or other component. If the cable
shows any signs of damage, discontinue use
immediately.

an electrician if you are unsure about the
electrical connection.

REPTI HEAT CABLE
INSTRUCTIONS:
(all applications)
• Remove the Repti Heat Cable from package
and inspect for any damage to the cable or
plug. If any damage is noticed, return the
product to place of purchase. This product can
be used
inside or outside of terrariums.
• NOTE: The fi rst 6’ of cable from the plug end is
not heated to allow only the heated portion to
be used in or on the terrarium.
DO NOT allow
the cable to cross itself as overheating
could occur. Always maintain the minimum
safe distance of 1 ¼” (3cm) between loops
or runs of cable to ovoid overheating and
possible fi re!
• Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature
inside the terrarium. Be sure that the tempera-
ture is within the appropriate range for your
species. Zoo Med’s ReptiTemp
®
Digital Infrared
Thermometer (Item RT-1) is a good tool for
measuring temperatures in different locations
throughout the terrarium.
• If ambient temperatures outside the terrarium
reach 80° F (26 C) or higher, then the heat
cable should be used with an appropriate
thermostat (like Zoo Med’s Hygrotherm (Item
HT-10) or ReptiTemp 500R Thermostat (Item
RT-500R).
INSIDE THE TERRARIUM
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Starting from the far end of the cable (the
end opposite the plug), evenly wrap the cable
around wood or resin decorative branches
inside the terrarium as shown.
IMPORTANT:
Always maintain a minimum distance of 1¼”
(3cm) between the loops/strands of Repti
Heat Cable.
• The fi rst 6’ of Repti Heat Cable is unheated.
The electrical connection must always be
outside the terrarium. Plug the cable into an
electrical receptacle.
• Carefully monitor the temperatures in your
terrarium to be sure that they are safe and
appropriate for the species you are keeping.
OUTSIDE THE TERRARIUM
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Repti Heat Cable is great for use underneath a
single glass terrarium, or on the outside back
wall of glass terrariums.
• Attach the Repti Heat Cable to the terrarium
using small pieces of electrical tape as shown,
taking care to
maintain a minimum safe
distance of 1 ¼” between runs of heat
cable. NOTE: If the cable strands are closer
than 1 ¼” (3cm), overheating can occur (see
complete safety instructions)! Avoid sharp
bends of less than ½” (1.3cm) radius.
• The fi rst 6’ of Repti Heat Cable is unheated.
The electrical connection must always be
outside the terrarium. Plug the cable into an
electrical receptacle.
• Check the electrical tape regularly to confi rm
that the cable is still securely taped to the
glass of the terrarium. Check at each cleaning,
or at least monthly and apply new tape as
needed.
• DO NOT allow the edge of the terrarium to
“sit” or rest on the Repti Heat Cable! Always
elevate the terrarium using adhesive feet
(eg. “bump-on” feet) available at hardware
stores. This allows excess heat to escape and
prevents damage to the heat cable, terrarium,
animals, household furniture, etc.
