6 Troubleshooting
Solution
Problem
Amber LED on Switch
•
Check OA and VSM for status alerts to identify the
problem.
•

definitions.
Verify the power up sequence and allow sufficient time for
each component to power up. Verify cabling from the
Storage not ready during POST (blade) OR Controller
lockup during POST
switch to the storage enclosures. For more information
about cabling, see
“Connecting cables to the switch”

VSM application is not accessible
Unable to access the storage

Verify that the P711m/712m/P721m SAS controller
and the 6Gb SAS Bl Switch are installed in server
expansion slots and BladeSystem interconnect bays that
map to one another. For information about mappings,
see
“Selecting the interconnect bay” (page 10)

Verify that the SAS controller and the storage enclosure
are supported for use with each other. For support
information, see the HP 6Gb SAS BL Switch QuickSpecs,
or the the “Controller and storage enclosure support
matrix” in the HP BladeSystem Deployment Guide for
Solutions with 6Gb SAS BL Switches and External SAS
Storage Enclosures. Both of these documents are
