9. Installation
The OPTISWITCH 3*00 C VF3*4.L*****A*vibrating level switches have to be mounted such that they
are effectively secured against the danger by bending of the sensor on the vessel wall under
consideration of the vessel installations and flow conditions in the vessel, especially distance tube
lengths exceeding 3 m are concerned.
10. Classification pressure-tight encapsulation Ex „d“
The terminals for connection of the power supply resp. signal circuit are integrated in the connection
compartment in classification pressure-tight encapsulation “d”
The gap between housing and cover is an ignition-proof gap.
The Ex - „d“ connection compartment has a M20x1.5 or ½ -14 NPT thread for connection to a
certified “Conduit” system or for mounting of an Ex-“d” cable entry (cable entries of easy construction
must not be used) certified acc. to EN 50 018. Please take note of section 13.1 and 13.2 of EN 50
018.
When connecting to a “Conduit” system the appropriate seal facility must be located directly on the
Ex-“d” connection compartment.
As a factory setting, a certified Ex-“d” cable entry is supplied. It is suitable for insertion of all
unarmoured cables with a diameter of 4 mm to 8.5 mm. The Ex-“d” cable entry must be screwed into
the housing.
Seal material of the cable entry: Neoprene.
The used cable entry is suitable for the housing temperature range mentioned in the
OPTISWITCH 3*00 C VF3*4.L*****A* certification.
If another cable entry is used, the separately certified cable entry determines the max. permissible
ambient temperature on the housing (max. values: - 40°C to + 80°C).
Make sure that before opening or with opened cover of the “d” connection compartment (e.g. in case
of connection or service work) either the supply cable and signal current cable is dead or that there is
no explosive atmosphere.
The cover of the “d” connection compartment must be screwed in completely before setup. It can be
locked by unscrewing the cover locking screw.
Make sure that the connection line of the pressure-tight connection compartment is sufficiently
protected.
Unused openings have to be locked acc. to EN 50 018.
If the temperature is exceeding 70° C at the entry position, temperature resistant connection cables
must be used.
