4.1.2 For use as category 2G instrument (zone 1):
When using as category 2G instrument, OPTISWITCH 3100 C VF31/ 3300 C VF33 pressures on the
sensor are permissible up to vacuum 16 bar
The permissible operating temperatures and pressures are mentioned in the appropriate
manufacturer declaration.
5. Protection against static electricity
All OPTISWITCH 3*00 C VF3*4.L*****A* vibrating level switches with chargeable plastic parts e.g.
plastic-coated sensors or distance tubes are provided with a warning label calling attention to the
safety
measures that should be taken in case of the danger of electrostatic charge or repair work:
- Avoid friction
- No dry cleaning
- Do not mount in pneumatic filling stream
6. Stroke and friction sparks
For applications requiring instruments of category 1/2G the OPTISWITCH 3*00 C
VF3*4.L*****A* vibrating level switches (all versions with aluminium) have to be mounted in such a
way that sparks caused by sudden blows or friction between aluminium and steel are avoided
(excluding stainless steel, if rust particles can be excluded).
7. Chemical resistance
For applications requiring instruments of category 1/2G and 2G the OPTISWITCH 3*00 C
VF3*4.L*****A* vibrating switches must only be used in products against which the wetted parts are
sufficiently resistant.
8. Potential equalization
The OPTISWITCH 3*00 C VF3*4.L*****A* vibrating level switches have to be connected to the
potential equalization e.g. via the earth terminal.
