5. Protection against static electricity
The ultrasonic sensors OPTISOUND 3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X have plastic parts which may
acquire static electricity. The instruments are provided with a warning label calling attention to the
safety measures that should be taken in case of the danger of electrostatic charge in the factory:
Caution: Plastic parts! Danger of static charge!
- Avoid friction
- No dry cleaning
- Do not mount in pneumatic filling stream
6. Use of an overvoltage arrester
On request the ultrasonic sensors OPTISOUND 3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X can be connected to
an overvoltage arrester.
When using ultrasonic sensors type OPTISOUND 3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X for applications
requiring instruments of category 1/2 G, lightning protective measures according to EN 60079-14
chap. 12.3 are not required.
For application requiring instruments of category 1 G according to EN 60079-14 chapter 12.3, a
suitable overvoltage arrester should be connected.
7. Grounding
The ultrasonic sensors type OPTISOUND 3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X as category 1 G or 1/2 G
instruments must be grounded e.g. to the ground terminal.
8. Chemical resistance
For applications requiring instruments of category 1 G or 1/2 G the ultrasonic sensors OPTISOUND
3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X must only be used in products against which the wetted parts are
sufficiently resistant.
9. Installation
In the event of danger of mechanical damage of the transducer, the ultrasonic sensors OPTISOUND
3010/3020 C VF3*4.C***H***X have to be installed in such a way that the transducer is sufficiently
secured.
