Installation and Use
Prior to use, plan your system:
1. Ensure all PFAS equipment is selected and deemed compatible with applicable CB Anchor by a
Competent Person.
2. Eliminate or minimize all risk of swing fall.
3. Ensure structure to which CB Anchor is to be attached, and on which work is to be performed,
is free of all hazards, including, but not limited to, debris, rot, rust, sharp or abrasive edges and
surfaces, and hazardous materials. Ensure substrate meets or exceeds all applicable
requirements specified by this instruction manual.
Installation, wood substrate:
MINIMUM substrate requirement: 3/4” CDX.
If minimum deck requirements are not met, it is permissible to reinforce decking through the
use of an overlay of additional plywood sheeting.
CB-1-B Fasteners: DO NOT INSTALL CB-1-B ON WOOD SUBSTRATES.
CB-12 Fasteners: (40) #14-10 2” screws for wood decking.
CB-18 Fasteners: (60) #14-10 2” screws for wood decking.
CB-24 Fasteners: DO NOT INSTALL CB-24 ON WOOD SUBSTRATES.
1) Place CB Anchor at selected installation location; 2) Install all fasteners until snug, and ensure
CB Anchor is fully secured to substrate; 3) All fasteners MUST be fully embedded in wood decking.
For all CB Anchors, all applicable fastener holes MUST be used.
Substrate on which CB Anchor is to be installed must withstand MINIMUM load of 5,000 lbs.
If CB Anchor is to be used in combination with a horizontal lifeline (HLL), all set-up,
installation, and use of HLL must be done under the supervision of a Qualified Person.

All fasteners fully
embedded in substrate.
Installation, metal substrate:
MINIMUM substrate requirement: 20 gauge.
CB-1-B Fasteners: Install onto structural steel beam only. (4) 1/2” structural bolt assemblies:
(4) A325, A407, or grade 8 bolts, (8) Hex Lock Nuts, and (8) F436 flat washers.
CB-12 Fasteners: (40) #14-10 2” screws for metal decking.
CB-18 Fasteners: (60) #14-10 2” screws for metal decking.
CB-24 Fasteners: DO NOT install CB-24 on metal decking. Installation onto structural metal
beams is permitted. See backer plate install on pg. 12.
