This SAFETY SIGN is
located on the frame of
your hitch kit.
Obey ALL Safety
Warnings.
Safety Information
Keep alert and watch the front as well as the rear when working with equipment.
When maneuvering close to buildings or passing through narrow areas, be sure to allow sufficient clearance
for the implement and tractor.
Do not operate close to ditches or creeks. Slow down when operating over rough ground.
Always be sure the implement is in the fully raised position when in transport.
When removing, or adjusting equipment, be sure that your feet are never under the implement.
Use extreme caution when backfilling deep holes or trenches.
Be careful to avoid catching the implements on stumps or other immovable objects.
Use extra care when working on slopes.
Avoid excessive speed during operation.
Make implement adjustments only when the implement is attached to the tractor.
When using rear blades or box scrapers in a reverse position, use extra care. Do not ram implement into
piles of dirt. Tractor lift arms and the implement are not built to take high impact loads in this position.
Ramming backwards can also dislodge operator from seat and/or tractor controls, resulting in possible serious
injury or death.
Always ease the tractor into the load. It may be necessary to reposition and take less “bite” on the material to
move it safely.
Watch for and avoid hidden obstructions, i.e., buried pipes, rocks, concrete piers, uneven concrete slabs,
stumps, etc., when operating equipment.
If a safety shield or guard is removed for any reason, it must be replaced before the machine is again operated.
Always use, and maintain in place, all power take off guards furnished with the tractor as well as the power
take off guards and shields furnished with the implement.
Never operate tractor and cutter under trees with low hanging limbs. Operators can be knocked off the tractor
and then run over by the implement.
NOTE:
If Safety Sign is missing
or damaged, replace
immediately.
WARNING
Pull from drawbar
or 3-Pt. lower lift
arms only. Failure
to hitch properly
could cause tractor
flip-over, resulting
in serious injury or
death.

Read manual before operating.
C A U T I O N !
The Model HK-201 hitch adapter kit is designed for the
John Deere Model M and MT tractors.
This kit uses the existing hydraulic lift on the tractor to
raise and lower the 3-pt. hitch.
NOTE: This hitch kit has a “fixed” 26” pull pin spacing.
This “fixed” spacing will NOT work with 3-pt. lift type plows.
Other 3-pt. equipment can be used with no problem.
PACKING
The adapter kit is shipped in knocked down condition so
as to command the lowest freight rates. Shipment con-
sists of 1 carton if by RPS or truck, 2 cartons if by UPS.

• Know your controls and how to stop tractor, engine,
and PTO quickly in an emergency. READ THIS
MANUAL AND THE ONE PROVIDED WITH YOUR
TRACTOR.
• To avoid accident or injury, do not allow anyone to
operate this equipment without proper instructions.
Any person who operates this equipment must be
instructed in and be capable of the safe operation of
the tractor, implement and all controls.
• Do not allow children to operate this machine.
T R A C T O R P R E PA R AT I O N
Be sure tires and rims are in good condition. Inflate tires
to the proper recommended air pressure.
Check the tractor’s hydraulic system. Refer to your trac-
tor operator’s manual or dealer for any adjustments nec-
essary to put the hydraulic system in good working order.
(I&T shop manuals will list most specifications and
adjustment instructions – available from most farm
equipment dealers.)
Check the shield over the PTO stub shaft. Make sure it
is in good condition and bolted securely to the tractor.
Purchase a new shield if old shield is damaged or miss-
ing. (You may have to use a tractor salvage yard for
replacement parts on older tractors.)
It is recommended that a ROPS (Roll-Over Protection
Structure) be installed on all tractors. Contact your local
dealer for a ROPS for your tractor.
This hitch kit is designed to allow the tractor to handle
implements or loads that do not exceed 500 lbs. at a
point 24 inches to the rear of the lift arms. The tractor and
the hitch may be damaged if you use heavier loads.
NOTE: The John Deere Model M and MT tractors are
lightweight tractors and the front end of the tractor will be
lighter when a load is picked up with a 3-pt. hitch.

4. Bolt hitch main frame (ref. #1) to your tractor drawbar
with main frame on top surface of drawbar and bolt-
