Assembly Instructions (Continued)

•Install wheel studs (9) into the hub (10), Photo 1. Torque to 77 ft-lb.

NOTE: There are two five lug patterns in the hub (5 x 4.50 and
5 x 4.75).
Ensure the correct hub stud pattern is being used to
fit the wheel application.

•Pack the large inner bearing cone (11) with high temperature

disc brake bearing grease (available from your local auto parts
store) and install into the backside of the hub (10), Photo 2.

•Install the grease seal (12) by pressing into the backside of the

hub (10), flush with the end of the hub, Photo 2.

•Orient the rotor (14) and the rotor adapter (13) as shown in

Figure 1 and Photo 3. Attach the rotor to the adapter using bolts
(15). Using an alternating sequence, apply red Loctite® 271 to
the threads, and torque to 25 ft-lb.

•Mount the adapter/rotor assembly (13/14) to the hub (10) using

bolts (16), as shown in Figure 1 and Photo 4. Using an
alternating sequence, apply red Loctite® 271 to the threads, and
torque to 55 ft-lb.

•Attach caliper mounting bracket (1) to spindle face using lower

bolt (5), washer (6), and a .090” thick spacer (2) positioned
between the bracket and the spindle face, as shown in Figure 1
and Photo 5. Secure bolt on the backside of the steering arm
with nut (7). Finger tighten. Install upper bolt (8) (for drum
spindle) or bolt (8A) with spacer (2A) between bracket and
spindle (for disc brake spindle), Photo 6. Ensure that the flanged
heads of the clinch nuts in the bracket are facing outboard,
Photo 6. Temporarily tighten the mounting bolts and install the
new hub/rotor assembly (10/14). Check that the bracket is
aligned parallel to the rotor, Photo 7. If not, adjust by adding
shim washers (3 and/or 4) between spacers (2 and/or 2A) and
the bracket, Figure 1. Once the bracket alignment is correct,
remove the bolts one at a time, apply red Loctite® 271 to bolt
threads, and torque upper bolt (8 or 8A) to 120 ft-lb. and lower
bolt (5) to 77 ft-lb.

•Pack the small outer bearing cone (17) with high temperature

disc brake bearing grease and install into hub (10). Slide the
hub/rotor assembly onto the spindle. Secure using spindle
washer (18) and OEM spindle nut, Photo 8. Adjust bearings per
OEM specifications. Install saved OEM nut lock (if any) and a
new cotter pin (not included).

•Screw dust cap (19) into hub (10). Friction created by the o-ring on the dust cap keeps it from

unscrewing. NOTE: The O.D. of the existing OEM spindle washer may be larger than the I.D. of the
dust cap not allowing it to seat against the hub face. Therefore, use the spindle washer (18) supplied
with the kit instead of the OEM washer.

NOTE: Please reference the caution statement at the beginning of the assembly instructions. Mount

the caliper (21) onto the caliper mounting bracket (1) using bolts (23) and washers (22), as shown
in Figure 1. Initially place two .032” thick shims (24) on each bolt between the caliper and the
bracket, Photo 9. Temporarily tighten the mounting bolts and view the rotor (14) through the top
opening of the caliper. The rotor should be centered in the caliper, Photo 10. If not, adjust by adding
