TheCatNOxReductionSystemcapturesandcoolsasmall
quantityofexhaustgas,thenroutesitintothecombustion
chamberwhereitdrivesdowncombustiontemperatures
and reducesNOxemissions.
Aftertreatment Technologies
Cataftertreatmentcomponentshavebeendesignedto
match applicationneeds.Systemcomponentsincludea
Diesel OxidationCatalyst(DOC),whichusesachemical
processtoconvertregulatedemissionsintheexhaustsystem,
andaDieselParticulateFilter(DPF)thattrapsandremoves
sootuntilburntoffthroughregeneration.TheDOCand
DPF arecontainedintheCleanEmissionsModule(CEM)
that protectsthecomponentsandsimplifiesmaintenance.
The CEMwillcontrolifregenerationneedstooccur
and soot levelismonitoredthroughthedisplay.
The aftertreatmentisdesignedtoremoveparticulate
matter fromtheexhaustwithouttheneedforoperator
interventionorworkcycleinterruption.
Cat Low Temperature Regeneration System
ThelowtemperaturePassiveRegenerationsystemworks
transparently,withoutanyinteractionneededfromthe
operator.Undermostconditions,engineexhaustwillremove
sootthroughpassiveregeneration.Ifsupplementalregeneration
isneeded,thesystemwillautomaticallyactivatetheexhaust
backpressurevalvetosupplementregeneration.Thiswill
resultinburningoffsootintheDPF.
TheCatLowTemperaturePassiveRegenerationSystem
allowsfastandaccuratecontrolofregenerationindependent
ofengineexhausttemperatures,evenincaseoflowload
applicationorcoldambienttemperatures.
Engine Idle Shutdown Timer–Thisoption(whenactivated
by theoperator)shutsdowntheengineafterthemachine
has beenidlingforapre-setperiodoftime.
Automatic Engine Speed Control (AESC)–Itreducesengine
speedwhenthemachineisnotunderloadformorethan
five seconds,whichcanhelpreducefuelconsumption
significantlydependingontheapplication.
