3 .2 Principle of operation
VEGAFLEX 66 is a level sensor with coax, rod or cable probe for
continuous level measurement in products with temperatures between
-
200 °C and +400 °C (-328 … +752 °F).
I t is designed for industrial use in all areas of process technology and
can be used in liquids.
H igh frequency microwave pulses are guided along a steel rope or a
rod. Upon reaching the product surface, the microwave pulses are
reflected. The running time is evaluated by the instrument and
outputted as distance.
T wo-wire electronics 4 … 20 mA/HART for power supply and
measured value transmission over the same cable.
T he supply voltage range can differ depending on the instrument
version.
T he data for power supply are specified in chapter "Technical data".
T he optional background lighting of the indicating and adjustment
module is powered by the sensor. A certain level of operating voltage
is required for this. You can find the exact voltage specifications in
chapter "Technical data".
T he optional heating requires its own operating voltage. You can find
details in the supplementary instructions manual "Heating for indicat-
ing and adjustment module".
T his function is generally not available for approved instruments.
3 .3 Operation
VEGAFLEX 66 can be adjusted with different adjustment media:

with indicating and adjustment module

with the suitable VEGA DTM in conjunction with an adjustment
software according to the FDT/DTM standard, e.g. PACTware and
PC
l
with manufacturer-specific adjustment programs AMS™ or PDM
l W ith a HART handheld
3 .4 Packaging, transport and storage
Y our instrument was protected by packaging during transport. Its
capacity to handle normal loads during transport is assured by a test
according to DIN EN 24180.
T he packaging of standard instruments consists of environment-
friendly, recyclable cardboard. For special versions, PE foam or PE foil
is also used. Dispose of the packaging material via specialised
recycling companies.
