Troubleshooting minor problems
Problem Possible cause Solution
Espresso is dispensed drop
by drop or not at all.
Filter holder (11) or
filter (11a/b) is blocked.
Clean filter holder (11) or
filter (11a/b).
Ground coffee too fine. Use coarser ground coffee.
Reservoir (7) is empty. Fill reservoir (7).
Reservoir (7) fitted incorrectly. Fit reservoir (7) correctly.
Brew head filter (12) is
blocked.
Undo brew head filter (12) and
clean.
Appliance scaled up. See Descaling" section.
Espresso too cold. Appliance still too cold. Wait until ready" indicator
light (5) lights up green.
Espresso has no crema"
(froth formation)
Too little ground coffee. Use the recommended
quantity of ground coffee.
Ground coffee too coarse. Use finer ground coffee.
Ground coffee past its best
before date.
Use fresh ground coffee.
Very loud noise from the
pump.
Reservoir (7) is empty. Fill the reservoir.
Reservoir (7) fitted incorrectly. Fit reservoir (7) correctly.
Milk does not froth sufficiently. Milk too warm or past its best
before date.
Use cold, fresh milk.
Nozzle (8b) blocked. Clean nozzle (8b).
Milk too fatty. Use low fat milk (1.5%).
