3.3
Installation
Considerations

Proper installation of your Crystal Series LCD will ensure the highest possible picture
quality. Whether you are installing the Crystal Series LCD temporarily or permanently, you
should take the following into account to ensure that it performs optimally.

Installing the Crystal
Series LCD On a Table or
In an Entertainment
Center

You can place the Crystal Series LCD on a table or other flat, stable surface, or install it in
an entertainment center.

Wall-Mounting the Crystal
Series LCD

You can also mount the Crystal Series LCD on a wall.

If you do decide to wall-mount the Crystal Series LCD, ensure that the wall-mount bracket
is installed according to the instructions included with it. The wall must be capable of
supporting a redundant weight factor three (3) times the weight of the display, or be
reinforced.

Runco recommends that this be done by a custom installation specialist.

Ambient Light

In general, minimize or eliminate light sources directed at the display. Contrast ratio in your
images will be noticeably reduced if light directly strikes the display, such as when a shaft
of light from a window or floodlight falls on the image. Images may then appear washed
out and less vibrant.

Other Considerations

Other considerations and tips that can help improve your installation:

• Keep the ambient temperature constant and below 35°C (95°F). Keep the display away

from heating and/or air conditioning vents. Changes in temperature may cause drifts in
the display circuitry, which may affect performance.

• Keep the Crystal Series LCD away from devices that radiate electromagnetic energy

such as motors and transformers. Common sources of these include slide projectors,
speakers, power amplifiers and elevators.

3.4
Connections to the
Crystal Series LCD

Proceed as follows to connect the Crystal Series LCD to your video sources, external
controller(s) – if present – and AC power.

When connecting your equipment:

• Turn off all equipment before making any connections.

• Use the correct signal cables for each source.

• Ensure that the cables are securely connected. Tighten the thumbscrews on

connectors that have them.

• Use the left audio input when connecting mono audio sources.

Some Crystal Series LCD models have holes at the back of the
stand to allow you to secure the LCD panel to the installation
surface using suitable hardware. For maximum safety and
stability, Runco strongly recommends doing this whenever
practical.
Refer to Crystal Series LCD Dimensions on page 59

for hole locations.

Note

Use only the Runco-approved wall-mount kit designed for your
display.
