Operations Menu

Introduction

Operations-level commands are used for making immediate and temporary changes to switch configuration. The
Operations Menu is used for bringing ports temporarily in and out of service. This menu is available only from an
administrator and operator login.

Menu information

Command: /oper

[Operations Menu]
port - Operational Port Menu
passwd - Change current user password
clrlog - Clear syslog messages
tnetsshc – Close telnet/SSH connections
ntpreq - Send NTP request

The following table describes the Operations Menu options.

Command Description

port <port number>

Displays the Operational Port Menu.

passwd <1-128
characters
>

Allows the user to change the password. You need to enter the current password in
use for validation.

clrlog

Clears all Syslog messages. This command is available only from an administrator
login.

tnetsshc

Closes the telnet and SSH connections.

ntpreq

Allows the user to send requests to the NTP server. This command is available
only from an administrator login.

Operations-level port options

Command: /oper/port <port number>

[Operations Port 1 Menu]
ena - Enable port
dis - Disable port
cur - Current port state

Operations-level port options are used for temporarily disabling or enabling a port.

Command Description

ena

Temporarily enables the port. The port will be returned to its configured operation mode
when the switch is reset.

NOTE:

This command does not enable a port that has been disabled by an ekeying mismatch error.

dis

Temporarily disables the port. The port will be returned to its configured operation mode
when the switch is reset.

cur

Displays the current settings for the port.
