Security certificates
For some WAP service such as banking services, you need a security
certificate. The security certificate helps you improve the security of
the connection between your phone and a WAP gateway or server.
Note: You must set the Connection security option to On.
You can download the certificate from a WAP page and then view, save,
or delete it. If you save it, the certificate is stored in your phone. Then the
phone uses the certificate to verify the identity of that WAP server when
you return to it. The phone alerts you if the identity of a WAP server or
gateway can not be verified, or if you don’t have the correct certificate
stored in your phone.
Important: Internet content received over a secure connection and
stored in your browser's cache may be reused over non-secure
connections and may create security issues. Please check with your
service provider to determine if emptying your browser's cache
after each browsing session or some other method should be used
to avoid security issues.
TO VIEW THE LIST OF SECURITY CERTIFICATES:
1
Press Menu 11 and scroll to Settings.
2
Press Select and scroll to Security certificates.
3
Press Select.
If the security icon appears during a WAP connection, it indicates that the
data transmission between the phone and the WAP gateway or server is
encrypted and secure. However, the icon does not indicate that the data
transmission between the gateway and the content server is secure. It’s
up to the service provider to secure the data transmission between the
gateway and the content server.
