General Radio Operation
Zones and Channels
A zone is a grouping of channels. A channel is a group of radio
characteristics, such as transmit/receive frequency pairs.
Before you use your radio to receive or send messages, you should
select the zone and channel.
Select a Zone
Select a Channel
1 If a control on your radio has
been preprogrammed as the
Zone switch, move the Zone
switch to the position for the
zone you want.
2 If the zone you selected is
unprogrammed, you hear a
long, medium-pitched tone.
Repeat step 1. • Long, medium-pitched tone
1 When the zone you want has
been selected, turn the
preprogrammed 16-Position
Select knob to the desired
channel.
2 If the channel you selected is
unprogrammed, you hear a
long, medium-pitched tone.
Repeat step 1. • Long, medium-pitched tone
