Selecting the Audio I/O Device and Line
The Linksys IP phones provide three audio I/O devices:
•
Handset
•
Built-in microphone and speaker
•
External microphone and headset
Only one audio device can be selected at one time. The speaker is selected by pressing the Speaker
button, while the headset is selected by pressing the Headset button. When Speaker or Headset is
selected, the corresponding LED is steady green.
The handset is selected whenever it goes from the on-hook to the off-hook position. Selecting or turning
off an audio device is equivalent to an off-hook action, while turning on an audio device is equivalent
to an on-hook
When there are no active calls, all audio devices are deselected. When one of the calls becomes active,
the handset is selected automatically as the audio device if it is off-hook; otherwise, the speaker or the
headset is selected according to configuration. You can configure whether the speaker or the headset
device has higher preference.]
