The symbols on the display mean:
HARDNESS
LEVEL —
Water hardness function switched off
HARDNESS German water hardness 1 – 7°
LEVEL 1 French water hardness 1.79 – 12.53°
HARDNESS German water hardness 8 – 15°
LEVEL 2 French water hardness 14.32 – 26.85°
HARDNESS German water hardness 16 – 23°
LEVEL 3 French water hardness 28.64 – 41.14°
HARDNESS German water hardness 24 – 30°
LEVEL 4 French water hardness 42.96 – 53.7°
The machine is adjusted to HARDNESS LEVEL 3 in the factory.
You can alter this setting by proceeding as follows:
Ⅲ Pull the plug and the feed wire out of the wire box on the back
of the machine.
Ⅲ Put the plug in.
Ⅲ Switch the machine on by pressing the ON/OFF
key.
The machine goes into the starting position fully automatically.
Ⅲ PLEASE WAIT
Ⅲ Press the key P until you hear an acoustic signal.

Ⅲ Press the key ̈ a number of times in succession until the fol-
lowing report appears:
Ⅲ HARDNESS LEVEL 3
Ⅲ If you press key P, you hear an acoustic signal and the hardness
level you have set flashes.
Ⅲ If you press the keys ̇ and ̈ you can now set the required
hardness level.
When you have selected the corrected hardness level, press the
key P once more as a confirmation. You can hear an acoustic
signal.
Ⅲ Press the keys ̇ and ̈ until the following report appears:

EXIT
Ⅲ Press the key P to return to stand-by status.
4. First start of operation
4.1 Fill system with water
Ⅲ Switch your machine on with the ON/OFF switch.
The machine goes into the starting position fully automatically.
Ⅲ Place an empty cup under the pivoting nozzle (14).

Ⅲ SYSTEM FILLING / PLEASE WAIT
The flow of water stops automatically.
Ⅲ CLOSE TAP
5. Rinsing the machine
Ⅲ RINSE UNIT
Ⅲ Place an empty cup under the coffee-spout (10).
Ⅲ Press the rinsing key
.
If the machine has been switched off and has already cooled
down, the rinsing function will be demanded when the
machine is switched on.
A rinsing is automatically started when the machine has been
switched on.
